Alstom joint venture, ABC(1) Electrification Ltd, has been appointed by Network Rail (UK) as one of four suppliers to deliver a €2.4 billion electrification programme which will electrify more than 3000 kilometres of Britain’s railways over the next seven years.
The framework agreement is valued at around €1.1 billion over an initial seven year term for ABC, with an option to extend for a further three years. ABC has been awarded two out of six areas which were within the programme, including “London North Western, South” region and the “Wales West region (Valley Lines)” (750 kilometers). Alstom’s offer includes: power supply (substations, autotransformers and switchgear), distribution installation, 25kV Overhead Line Equipment, SCADA and signalling design, installation management, testing and commissioning.
Terence Watson, President of Alstom UK said, "Being selected as one of the framework suppliers to work with Network Rail is a really important win for ABC and for Alstom. The delivery of this major programme of electrification is an essential part of the UK’s rail network and vital for the continuing growth of the UK economy.”
