Our client is a leading provider of heavy goods (steel structures) for the construction sector. They are specialised in the sourcing and delivey of these good to their clients. To accompany their growth, they are now looking for an Operations Manager to manage the operation of their Warehouse facility as well as the Transportation activities directly from their suppliers factories to the end client. So experience in both warehousing and logistics / freight transportation management is required.
JOB PURPOSE:
Managing all aspects of distribution and storage of company products. Support the implementation and delivery of Eastern Hemisphere Operations priorities.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES:
• Structure and manage the Operational responsibilities of the Regional Offices • Implement company policies with respect to Operations • Directly supervise project and material control staff and warehouse operatives. • Manage of project contracts in conjunction with sales staff. • Oversee expediting all aspect of project progress and delivery • Liaise with key logistic service providers. • Negotiate best freight costs against predetermined budgets. • Upkeep and report on stock control policies. • Make recommendations on stock control policies • Report on issues of stock problems • Operate as direct liaison between mills and forwarding agents • Liaise with sales/commercial Manager on day-to-day activities affecting overall performance of company. • Carry out staff appraisals. • Recruit and develop logistics / operations staff. • Assist in QA procedures. • Procure consumables for facility operations. • Assist with development of a new warehouse facility, which will include a small element of machine shop activity. • Provide the higher level management of the QA Dept. The QA Manager will attend to the day-to-day management of QA functions and report directly to the Operations Manager. • Other responsibilities allocated from time to time.
