Train Fleet Planning Manager, Locomotive Fleet Coordinator, Amsterdam

Our client is a fast expanding European Train (Railway) company with operations in several European countries. The company is still at a small/medium size, although it is fast growing. This can provide with excellent career prospects along with the company development.

They are currently looking for a Locomotive Fleet Coordinator to be responsible for managing the fleet planning of their trains with the aim to optimize the utilization rate


Main Tasks

The Fleet Coordinator has a good proven logistic and technical track record and is responsible to increase the fleet utilization rate by optimizing the fleet planning and acting as a liaison for the various departments within the company. He/ she shall support senior management by preparing and reporting relevant management information, which includes various commercial and service related KPI reports.

Fleet management:

The Fleet Coordinator assures maximization of the fleet utilization rate with the aim to optimize the revenue and profitability of the companyResponsible for the daily management and update of the central fleet planning data base.Coordinates locomotive allocations with the sales department.Is in daily contact with relevant technical departments to discuss and coordinate the fleet availability and planned locomotive delivery and re-deliveries.Chairs the bi-weekly Net Utilization Maximization MeetingOptimizes the utilization of the available fleet and minimizes the number of under-deployed assets (“mismatch locomotives”)Supports with the drafting of management data and information.Coordinates timely locomotive delivery and redeliveries in close cooperation with the relevant technical departments.Is the central point of contact for corporate control and other departments, in regards to commercial information and dispositioning.Informs relevant persons about availability and general fleet problems relating to issues with specific locomotives and related potential claim situations.Informs senior management in regards to status of pending contracts and extensions.Participates in the sales and relevant technical departments meetings on a regular base.Will assess all lease applications on availability and matching the conditions with the allocation reservations made.Will support and advise the sales department regarding fleet specifics, such as optimal contract durations, deployment area’s etc.Makes final assessment on locomotive allocations and approves all locomotive releases.Regularly visits the companies Munich office to keep good communication lines with the technical department.Is a competent discussion partner for colleagues from the technical department and is able to evaluate the grounds of availability issues and propose possible solutions.Supports technical and accounting departments to assure that the fleet planning is corresponding to the fleet data as referenced in JDE.

Job requirements

Education and experience:

Relevant Masters or Bachelor Degree5 - 10 years of relevant working experienceAffinity with the transport and/or logistic sector is a plus.Good communication skills in English and German are a must.

Competencies and Requirements:

Has a deep knowledge (or is willing to build this) of logistics and fleet management in the rail industry.Has a thorough technical knowledge (or is willing to build this) about locomotive types and their potential usage.Is inventive, creative and proactive in respect of developing the fleet planning.
