Metro projects planned for Dammam and Qatif

Saudi Arabia’s Council of Ministers has authorised the establishment of an integrated public transport system including metros and buses in Dammam and Qatif, Saudi Gazette reports.

A high-level committee under the Eastern Province governor will be set up to implement the project in phases over the next seven years as part of the decision.

The Cabinet, which was chaired by Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, authorised the region’s governorate to establish a private company to supervise implementation of the project.

Saudi Arabia is already executing three major metro projects in Riyadh, Jeddah and Makkah, each at different stages of completion.
