Qatar plans to float tenders for railway coach manufacture

Qatar has plans to float tenders for the manufacture and supply of rail coaches and installation of control systems for its multi-billion dollar Greater Doha Metro project by the second quarter of 2013.

A press statement issued by Qatar Rail said yesterday a workshop will be held next month for prospective bidders–companies and contractors–to familiarise them with the tendering process and safety aspects of the control systems. Companies with proven track record in the manufacture of rail coaches and installing control system for mega rail projects can forward requests to take part in the workshop at info@qr.com.qa. Work on the first phase of the project (making designs and making construction sites ready) has begun, according to the statement.
