Job Description

Our client is major player in the Railway sector in New Zealand. They are currently looking to strengthen their design teams following the release of major investments in national rail programmes. The roles are permanent, and we are looking for professionals willing to relocate to New Zealand on a permanent basis or at least for a few years.

The employer will provide relocation assistance. They are accredited as Immigration NZ Employer of Choice, which will facilitate the visa process.

The Senior Water Engineer will be responsible for leading the development of design and maintenance solutions for railway infrastructure civil water assets. This role will cover coastal and river protection, and rail infrastructure drainage including surface and piped assets.

The primary role responsibilities include:

Provide technical advice, analysis and design for water asset maintenance and upgrade solutions.Assess options and develop long-term forward works programmes.Oversee engineering investigations and inspections on water assets and the development of cost-effective solutions for maintenance or renewal.Represent Planning and Engineering as the civil water engineering interface with major infrastructure projects.Oversee the delivery of physical works, manage contracts and liaise with third parties.Support the business in understanding and managing civil engineering risks.




Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering.Minimum of 10 years’ professional experience, predominantly in civil water engineering fields (ideally applied to railway infrastructure, but not essential)Experience in drainage, hydrology and hydraulics flood modelling.Experience in coastal and river protection design.Experience with engineering analysis, asset databases, and reporting.
